Identification skills of coconut shell activated carbon
1. Coconut shell activated carbon belongs to the fruit shell activated carbon category. Its main features are low density and light hand feel. It weighs significantly less in the hand than coal-based activated carbon. For the same weight of activated carbon, the volume of coconut shell activated carbon is generally larger than that of coal-based activated carbon.
2. Because coconut shell activated carbon has a low density and is light to the touch, you can put activated carbon into water. Coal-based carbon generally sinks to the bottom quickly, while coconut shell activated carbon floats in the water for a longer time. As the activated carbon reaches saturation by adsorbing water molecules, it will gradually sink to the bottom of the water when it increases its own weight. When all the activated carbon sinks to the bottom, you will see a small bubble wrapped around each activated carbon, which is crystal clear and very interesting.
3. The shape of coconut shell activated carbon is generally broken granules and flakes, while shaped activated carbon, such as columnar and spherical activated carbon, is mostly coal-based carbon.
4. Coconut shell activated carbon has a small molecule pore structure. When the activated carbon is placed in water, the air exhausted when it absorbs water molecules will produce many very small blisters (just visible to the naked eye), which densely float to the surface of the water. Coal-based activated carbon generally has a macromolecular pore structure, and the bubble phase produced is relatively large.
